DIY paper garlands are such a great way to add some color into your life. It doesn’t even have to be for a party. They work great as a fun decoration in pretty much any room of your house. Kids love them over their beds, they look lovely as a backdrop against a plain wall and they work great in the garden as well.
What’s even better is it doesn’t really take much to make your own. The projects we have gathered in this post are easy to make, so you can have your DIY paper garland made and hung in no time.
We just love the modern feel of this lovely DIY garland by Lia Griffith. You probably already have all the materials you need for this at home, as it is literally just paper geodes hung on some twine. They have included a downloadable geode template, so you can get cutting right away!
Another great DIY paper garland which makes such a great party decoration! This DIY garland is made of pieces of paper sewn onto a ribbon. And since the paper is just cut into simple strips you can really make yards and yards of it in no time.
This DIY paper garland is made of woven paper balls. They might look complicated but apparently making them can be pretty addictive. You can use any type of paper you like and then just string them on some twine.
Alright, alright, this one is ours, but it is really such a great DIY garland, we had to share it today. It is made of paper circles, sewn together into a garland using a sewing machine. You know it’s one of my favorites if it was also my wedding decoration. And I still love it now as much as I did back then.
How about this banner? Probably the most summery of all the DIY paper garlands. It might take a little bit more time to make, but it is well worth it, don’t you think? Next time you are planning a summer garden party, don’t forget to make your ice cream banner!
This pretty spring DIY garland is so delicate you could almost think those are real flowers. Again, this will take some precision cutting skills, but with free downloadable templates, I am sure even a beginner could do it.
This accordion DIY garland reminds me so much of my childhood. We would make tiny paper accordions out of scrap paper strips that you ripped off the printing paper used in those 1980’s printers. Remember those? Well, this DIY garland takes it to another level, obviously. Such a pretty garland and you the fact that it folds so nicely means you can store it neatly after the party is over!
This tropical paper leaves garland would make such great decoration for a summer party. And how great would it look in a jungle themed kids’ room (Ikea has some awesome jungle themed accessories, like this bedding or this storage bag). All you will need is green paper, scissors, and some glue and you are good to go!
This DIY paper garland is so easy to make you won’t believe it! Just cut thin strips of paper, curl them up and thread them to get a garland. Michelle suggests making matching drink stirrers. What a great party idea!
This colorful DIY paper garland is made of simple paper fans, attached together with tape. Yup, it is so easy! They make a big impact and are also great as a photo backdrop, as Louisa shows on her blog. Love it!
